Plt 8 the Silloth bay at Carlisle Citadel ,one of the D.M.Us which took over from steam waiting to leave. It was hoped they would make the line more economical. Sadly it made no difference, the car was to be King.

West Walls in the 50s has been a reasonable location for pictures, it has a low wall with no intrusion.

The Silloth bay still exists, but no passenger trains leave, it is normally used for storing locomotives during diversions or break downs. 

West Walls landscape has changed over the years, the once busy marshalling yard was developed into an industrial estate. Taking a picture today is spoiled by the new Network Rail standard fence.
