Upperby Shed Plan from1948, the original LNWR shed was swept away to be replaced by the well known roundhouse. Also a large carriage shed was erected. During the 80s the roundhouse was demolished and straight lines were installed. 1962 exterior of the roundhouse with locomotives Scot 64123 Royal Irish Fusilier, & WD 90187. Note the building on the skyline, it is the engine crews over night building. Today is a call center and Q Doc. Upperby was well renowned for clean engines. Britannia Pacific 70012 John of Gunt Upperby is a shell of its glory days since it closed in the 90s as a maintenance depot. Yet it has not been demolished and is still able to service the last steam locomotive to be built by British Railways. She was on a 1986 Settle & Carlisle private charter.
