KINGS CROSS the London terminus of the former Great Northern Railway, which became the L.N.E.R and eventually British Railways. Designed by Louis Cubitt was first known as two simple train sheds when it opened for traffic in 1852.It was built with standard London yellow brick, and cast iron for the roof spans. There were no ornamental fittings, the clock tower is 112 foot high from ground level. It did have four faces, but the back one was removed because no one could see it.
