Appleby is station is sited east above the town, it is equal to Settle as an attraction for tourists. The station has hosted a number of steam & diesel charters since the revival of steam in 1978. The infrastructure is in perfect condition and now has a memorabilia shop, which is run by the Friends of the S & C. The water tower has been rebuilt to the original design by donation of the line supporters.

Yet it has a secret which not many people know about until recent years. A short walk away you will find Appleby East Station which served the Warcop branch. It was run by the Army until it was mothballed. The line has now been given a new lease of life by the Eden Valley Railway Society.
