Brian's RAILWAY YEARS KEIGHLEY & WORTH VALLEY RAILWAY | |||
Hello from Brian &
welcome to the five mile wonder. My first visit to the railway was in
1970. I have been there many times since, and have watched the railway
develop from its sorry state when it closed under the Beeching axe in the
60s. I made a short film about the line on 8mm with a added sound track,
of course I was not able to compete with the professional Cinema & T,V
companies who dominated the line during week days.
Class 8 climbs out of Keighley Station on its stopping journey to Oxenhope.
Ingrow West is the first station on the line, you can alight here for the Carrage Museum. Diesel open days are very popular, two class 20s from the 1960s era arrive on the 12.00 train. The green one is owned by the KWV & the second one is still in service is owned by Direct Rail Services of Carlisle. The trains are relaxing on their 5 mile journey up & down the valley, refreshments are provided in the 1960s Mark 1 buffet car. |
This picture was taken of myself by Mark Burchell, who was on holiday from Australia. I met him by chance on the D.R.S Settle & Carlisle125 anniversary special from Carlisle to Keighley 14.07.01
