The 17.15 London to Glasgow Pendolino express passenger train was derailed at Greyrigg on the West Coast Main Line in Cumbria England at around 20.15.

The narrow country roads leading to the line were closed, but were expected to open in daylight for news reporters.

At least 80 firemen were on the rescue site of the derailment.
