ARCHIVE POSTCARDS NEWCASTLE DIAMOND CROSSING

Brian's Railway Years

The Newcastle Diamond Crossings have always fascinated me since I first saw them in 1956. I once ordered 7 Tri-ang 00 crossings for my layout, I liked to hear  the model trains going across, most times they got stuck at low speed not good contacts in the days.

From the Castle Keep a place I used to go to. Up the spiral staircase which was a tight squeeze. You had to have a head for heights.

A third rail electric unit leaving the station. Note the old time steam loco arriving, could be a Stirling single.

Another ariel shot. Note the station pilot to the left which was a J72.
